Got my 47T renthal sproket this morning, so as it was a nice day thought that it may as well go one.
Took the rear wheel off, and took the old one off the carrier, gave all round the swing arm and underneath a good old clean and then put the new shiny Renthal onto the carrier and got it all tourqued up.
Spun the chain aligment doodads all the way in, got the rear backin without loosing or droping the spacers, and then banged the spindle through.
Got the chanin around the top part of the cog, and,… it wouldnt go any further. Pushed the wheel as far forward as it would go, and still nothing, wouldnt go on.
Remembering what to do on push bikes years ago, and tried to just spin the wheel round thinking that would force the chain on and all it did was crack into the sprocket tooth and gouge all the anodisng off… fuck.
Had a cup of tea, and then took the spindle out again, pushed the wheel as far into the swing arm as it would go, and yeaay, the chain fitted.
Pulled the wheel back and got the spindle almost all the way through, but it was just short, and wouldnt go through the other end,… more fucks.
Called Dave Hagon and asked if he had any chains in stock, which he did, so took the wheel out again and put the old sproket back on, refitted it and rode to Ramsey with the new one down my top.
Left it with Dave for an hour and I now have a new sproket, DID X-ring chain and 130 quid less off
It makes the bike a hoot to ride though – so im glad that I did it
It seems to pull a lot stronger, but normal ridabilty doesnt seem to be affected at all, so,… result.
