Conservatory – Patio is finished.

November 7, 2009

Another constructive day!

IMG_7551.JPG

The builders have been round again , and completely finished the patio and garden. They have even levelled the left over grass out so its straight with the patio – admittedly the grass has to now grow through!

I have also asked them to make the drive wider, and so they have made a start on that too!

Conservatory – Block work is down

November 5, 2009

Had a chat with the buildr over the weekend and we were trying to decide on the flagstones for around the Conservatory. It turns out that he can get a deal on block work, which we had discounted for being to expensive, but its within budget, so thats what we got.

The majority of it went down yesterday:

The hardcore for the paving has been laid now. Its all falt an lovely, interestingly what goes on top of this is a mix of sand and glass chippings made from old bottles and such like.

I love recycling like that!

Conservatory – Walls finished.

October 30, 2009

The walls have now been completed for the conservatory. They need a couple of days to go off, and then it will be ready for the frames to go onto it, so its a case of waiting for the Manx Glass guys to get round here!

Its starting to look like a room at last!he hole you can see in the middle of this wall is for the aircon unit to live in!

And a couple more from different angles!

Conservatory – Base laid!

October 24, 2009

Another productive day, not for me maybe but the builders did a brilliant job considering the conditions.

They mixed and then barrowed around tons of wet concrete and finished the base today, I was so chuffed I even made them all tea and toast!

IMG_7527.JPG

So there you have it, we finally have a floor!

Conservatory – Base is down

October 23, 2009

First week of the build has been completed, so far we have got all the footings in, all the concrete poured and the walls up to the damp course.

IMG_7509.JPG

Im really happy with it so far, you can now start to see how its going to look and the floor space (secretly I think it could be bigger, but the garden is too small).

And what is it with the bloody cats, as soon as a nice flat surface is done, this happens!

Another perspective from the utility room:

Floor tiles to order next week as soon as I have the measurements!

And just what is it with Cats and wet concrete anyway?

IMG_7505.JPG

That looks suspiciously like a Monkey paw!

Tomorrow looks like it might be block work starting day!

And check out the comedy drain mechanism!

Building Work has started!

October 21, 2009

images.jpg

Got home last night and against all odds (its been raining a lot) the building work has finally started.

On the drive is a HUGE pile of what used to be the garden!

IMG_7493.JPG

And round the back, the start of the footing have been out in – amazingly that was all done by hand, no diggers can get round there.

IMG_7495.JPG

IMG_7496.JPG

So, its all actually started at last – the only hard bit of work I have had to do was moving the black bamboo that was at the end of the garden. I couldnt bear to have it thrown away, so half of it was donated to Wilfs garden and the rest I have potted for now, until I decide what I want to do with it.

Bit of a news flash, the builders have just turned up as I write this with a lorry load of concrete – I guess the foundations start today??
